Yesterday we attended the Grand Floral Parade in Portland, along with 500,000 other people!! It was AMAZING!!! The parade is about a four mile route and some AMAZING floats!! We got up early and got on the MAX (our public transportation). We took the MAX because we knew it was going to be crazy and Garrett LOVES taking it!! We got on the train at about 8:30....got to the street about 9am and waited!! Our friends SLEPT ON THE STREET to save us a spot!! THANK YOU Jerry and Bree!!!
The parade started at 10am but didn't get to where we were until about 12pm, but there was still so much to do!! I don't think we have ever seen the kids sit still for 5hrs before!!
Garrett was SO excited!!! He remembered going to a parade in New Mexico with Nana!! That was before we moved to Portland!!! What a crazy memory!!!
One of the crazy people walking up and down the street trying to sell things!! They were fun for the kids to watch!!
Josh and Aric laughing about something....who knows with them!!
If we gave them $20 they would take off their shirt and give it to you....sorry Garrett....Daddy only had a $1!
Yes I know!! It's the middle of June and we're still wearing sweatshirts!! That's Oregon for you!!!
They had a walk before the parade and there were THREE biggest loser contestants AND Jared from Subway!!!
Some people came by and were "interviewing" the crowds!!! Garrett LOVED it!!!
Haylee wearing the stickers that were being handed out!!!
Haylee's friend Noah!
YEA!! The parade is starting!!!
There were some AWESOME floats!! They were all made out of natural material too!!
Noah watching the floats
Garrett's butterfly!!
Proof there are cowgirls in Oregon too!!!
Watching the Parade!!
There were some really neat stuff and some really crazy things as well!! Look the Senior Dance Team (on the bottom in purple outfits, the Budweiser Horses (they were so HUGE!!), the tiny little pony (the bottom right side), and the bicycling fish!!
This was SO Portland though.......
GO GREEN
Garrett had so much fun!! He LOVED all the floats and loved watching all the people!! I think his favorite part though was the marching bands!! Every time they would march by us his body would start to shake to the beat!!!
After the parade we went to the waterfront were they were having Dragon Boat races!! We didn't see any of the races but we did see a boat!!
Here were all the people watching the races!!!
What a GREAT day!! I'm so happy that we turned down four birthday parties, a baby shower, and a t-ball game, but this is how Haylee felt by the time we got home at 4pm!!
